Finally here - Ben Bilbo!

Bennett Evan Bilbo
September 14, 2011
9 pounds, 5 ounces
21 inches long

We are late in updating, but I'm sure you can forgive us. With a two year old and a newborn, we don't have as much time for blogging as we once did! However, if you're reading this Bennett, and you're worried that we don't love you as much as your sister because there aren't as many pictures of you, be assured that we most certainly love you just as much. We're just totally sleep deprived zombies right now. ;)

Here's pretty much what Ben looked like the first time I saw him:

I love that photo!

He's calmed down since then.

Ben is a big boy and he eats ALL the time. He's over ten pounds now. That's more than three pounds heavier than Zoe was at this stage!

He barely fits on that little bath sling, is already in size 1 diapers, and most of the 'newborn' clothes we have are too small for him. He's wearing the stuff labeled '0-3 months'. Is this a future linebacker?

How's Zoe doing, you ask?

Well, it depends on the day.

This was Zoe in the hospital, visiting Mommy and Ben for the first time. Looking decidedly nonplussed:

But she's getting used to the idea.

Mommy and Daddy try our best to give her as much attention as possible. Here is Zoe and Daddy having a picnic.

Wearing Daddy's hat:

Grandma came down as soon as she knew Mommy was in labor, and helped us with Zoe for a week. It was unbelievably helpful and generous, and we are so grateful. I'm not sure what we would have done without her help that first week while I recuperated.

Special thanks also to our friends Allison and Marla, who swooped in and grabbed Zoe for a few hours while Ben was being born (everything happened pretty quickly, and Mommy wound up being taken to the closest hospital in an ambulance)...it was all the sweeter of them because they actually had a plane to catch that afternoon! I literally pushed the baby out with my eye on the clock, knowing Jack needed to run back to their house and pick Zoe up in time for them to be on their way. Luckily, we got Ben out in time for Jack to see him before he had to leave! It was a crazy day. But the rest of our time in the hospital was lovely - all the nurses and doctors were great, and even though it wasn't the hospital where we had planned to deliver (nor had we ever met any of the people there), we were glad we wound up there.

And I got to take home this sweet baby boy. We love you, Ben!
